Civil War Discharge Paper Colored Soldier
Item: 19C132

Original discharge paper for a Private George Stone enlisted with the 83rd Infantry regiment US Colored Troops Co. "D".  He was mustered in on July 1, 1863 and discharged October 9th, 1865.  This soldier is researchable.  I found record of him living in Leavenworth, KS in the 1870's and his service on Ancestrylibrary.com.  He was listed as a musician.  Was from Louisville, KY and was 18 when discharged. Document shows its age.  Has some rodent damage and is evident Mr. Stone likely carried it with him in his billfold.
